Proverbs chapter 5.
Summary: The pleasure of sex is to be enjoyed by husband and wife within lawful marriage. Love, appreciate, and be fond of your own wife. Do not have adultery with somebody else's wife. "Rejoice in the wife of your youth."
15 15 Drink water from your own cistern,
running water from your own well.
16 16 Should your springs overflow in the streets,
your streams of water in the public squares?
17 17 Let them be yours alone,
never to be shared with strangers.
18 18 May your fountain be blessed,
and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth.
19 19 A loving doe, a graceful deer—
may her breasts satisfy you always,
may you ever be intoxicated with her love.
20 20 Why, my son, be intoxicated with another man’s wife? Why embrace the bosom of a wayward woman? (NIV)
18 18 Let your fountain be blessed,
and rejoice in the wife of your youth,
19 a lovely hind, a graceful doe.
19 Let her affection fill you at all times with delight,
be infatuated always with her love.
20 20 Why should you be infatuated, my son, with a loose woman and embrace the bosom of an adventuress? (RSV)
Pleasures of sex is a reality. Enjoy sex with your own wife. Do not have sex with random sex partners, multiple sex partners.
For those not married, be lawfully married. Sex should be enjoyed by husband and wife.
Be appreciative with your real wife. Delight in her. Always love her, caring, and be emotionally infatuated with her. Do not get involved in adultery with somebody's wife. Do not get involved with a loose, immoral woman.
21 21 For a man’s ways are before the eyes of the Lord,
and he watches[e] all his paths.
22 22 The iniquities of the wicked ensnare him,
and he is caught in the toils of his sin.
23 23 He dies for lack of discipline,
and because of his great folly he is lost. (RSV)
God sees what we do. God watches our ways and our paths.
For those who are infidel, his sins will ensnare, cause himself various problems and troubles. There will be bad consequences of infidelity, like those earlier mentioned in earlier part of chapter 5. Wasting of time, energy, and money. Losing honor and dignity. Bringing about shame and disgrace.
For lack of self-control and discipline, the infidel person will end up in his own self destruction. Inability to control sexual desires outside marriage and extra-marital sex are acts of folly.
